President Notes April 2019
Spring is here even though Mother Nature is being slow about it! Spring for artists is very busy so we are going to dedicate this NL Issue to the information & details plus a few reminders to help us keep things going smoothly.
Our March Meeting was a fun & relaxing evening painting acrylic on glass. I want to thank Bonnie Siebert for her how to tips & guidance exploring paint on glass. The creations that everyone comes up with from our demonstrators is always amazing!
Congratulations to EAG member Jan VonBokel for being awarded 1st Place by the Mattoon Art Council for her drawing titled “Tribute To Mom”.
We want to thank Annabelle Black & Nancy Anderson for providing refreshments for our March Meeting.
Barb Brummer & Mary Haag will bring refreshments for the April 9th Meeting.

The chosen theme for our end of the year group project was “Flowers”. As in the past, we will bring our version of the theme to the June 11th Potluck.
Traveling Art Show Information
A big thank you to Barb Brummer for taking on the large task of coordinating the Traveling Shows. Barb has been busy touching base with the area supporters and will be giving us details of art change outs and up coming receptions in this April issue.
Thanks goes to Jan VonBokel for her years of coordinating the Traveling Shows for the EAG. Jan will continue with the 12×12 Show in July at Joe Sippers.
We want to take time to thank the area organizations & businesses that graciously allow us to display our work.
Currently they are:
• SBL Bonutti Clinic
• Effingham County Courthouse Museum
• Effingham Performance Center
• Heartland Human Services
• Surgical Associates, Drs Flaig & Malone
A. Thanks to all EAG members that participated in the art change out in March at the Effingham County Courthouse Museum.
B. Any EAG member that has paintings exhibited at Heartland Human Service needs to change out their art work before April 30th. This opportunity to display your work is open to any EAG member and we encourage you to do so. The office is located at 1200 N. 4th St. in Effingham. Office hours are 8 AM to 5 PM.
C. A big thank you to all EAG members for retrieving there work by April 5th at the office of Drs Flaig & Malone prior to their move to a new location. A reception has been scheduled at their new location for Wednesday, May 30th. A date to deliver new work will becoming after they are moved and settled in their new office.
D. The reception at the SBL Bonutti Clinic will be held Wednesday, June 19th. They are requesting more art work this year so EAG members may submit up to 10 paintings. We have used entry forms to submit with our
work in past years so if needed, we will make them available to you. Delivery dates & other details will be announced later. We still have time to prepare new works for the show, so get BUSY!
E. We have not scheduled an art switch out at the Effingham Performance Center but we will be talking with them soon & hopefully come up with dates & times that will work. We will need member participation (hopefully with strong muscles) to help take down & hang new art.
Jan VonBokel will be teaching a class on Celluclay & glass Tuesday, April 30th at the Park District Ron Diehl Building at 6 PM. Signup at the Park District Office or call 217-342-4415. Cost is $35.
We have no formal presentation for our April meeting but we will explore with acrylics on mini 3×3 canvases together. We will have a few examples & all supplies will be provided. Bring any mini works that you have done or any how to ideas you have to spark our creative juices. Just join in for alittle no stress fun before heading home!
ElAG member’s Elizabeth Thurston & Roger Balcer brought in paintings to share at our March meeting. Members are always welcome to share any of their art work with us.
