The April meeting will be held at the Rec Center in the Fine Arts Room on Tuesday, April 14 at 7:00 p.m.
Following our business meeting, we’ll have guest presenter Sheila Lamberson. Sheila is an artist from Bloomington, IL. I met Sheila at a festival this past summer at Cederhurst in Mt. Vernon. She was painting in black and white photos that she’d developed herself. Amazing talent. You will enjoy her presentation. Check out her FB page at https://www.facebook.com/sheila.lamberson?fref=ts
April, May, and June are very busy months for the EAG and several volunteers are needed to make each event a success. Thank you in advance for your eagerness to serve.
Effingham Performance Center has set aside Monday, April 20 as the day we can change out our art work. Please plan to pick up your existing work and/or drop off new pieces between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. Hanging pieces will begin at noon. We need volunteers to be available to distribute/accept pieces and additional help to hang the work.
May 9 is the Artisan Fair and we’ve been invited to once again participate in the Kids Korner. We will be helping approximately 100 children create Mothers’ Day cards using their traced hands, Sharpies, acrylic paint, rubber stamps, embellishments, and card stock. Please plan to sign up for an hour-long shift to volunteer if you are interested in helping.
We are honored to have artist John McNeely presenting at the May 12th meeting. Following our business meeting, John will share his unique art using simple Crayola crayons. You’ve got to see this talented man and his neat method.
May is the Effingham Art Guild’s annual show to once again be held at Broom’s Furniture. The entry form and information sheet are included in this newsletter and also available on the EAG web site. Sign-up sheets will be circulated at this month’s meeting for various volunteer opportunities. Please note several changes to this year’s awards. If you helped last year in getting donations for the awards, please plan to stay a few minutes after the meeting Tuesday to discuss/plan this.
John McNeely (May’s presenter) is offering a workshop on Saturday, May 30 from 9:00 – 12:00 in the kitchen of the Rec Center. At this workshop, John will teach us how to do his Crayola technique. You are asked to bring your own supplies (he’ll cover what you’ll need at the May meeting) so the cost is just $10.00 each.

The evening of the 24th, artists are asked to be there at 6:30 for awards and announcements, while the event opens to the public between 7:00 and 9:00.
The Heartland Human Services show is Thursday, June 25 with the reception beginning at 5:00. There will be three $100 awards: People’s Choice, Heartland Staff Choice, and Chamber Of Commerce Choice. You can enter up to three pieces and we have been asked to leave them there on display for the year.
