President Notes December 2017
Our November 14th meeting had 23 members and guests in attendance. Guests and new members were introduced. I want to thank Donna Kutcher and Stacey Zerrusen for the wonderful refreshments.
Annabelle Miles Black was our volunteer artist of the month. Annabelle shared her lifelong love of art and all her different types of art endeavors over the years. She told us of her passion for sharing her art with family and friends and her wish is that everyone would have something to remember her by when she is no longer with us. Thank you Annabelle for bringing such great examples of your art and for telling your wonderful story.
The next artist of the month will be Barb Brummer in January. All members should always feel free to bring in a work in progress or a finished piece to share and request a critique of your piece.
Our December 12th Meeting will be our Christmas Potluck with everyone bringing a covered dish. We will meet at 6:00 PM with only a very short business meeting prior to dinner. The FACE Community Chorus will be performing for us at 6:30PM. We will have a $10.00 gift exchange for those that want to participate after dinner. Rose Sutton and Barb Brummer will provide the flowers and decorations for the tables.
The raffle was well received by all and Jan VonBokel was this month’s winner! We will again have the raffle at our December meeting and we will have it set up on the front table by the sign in roster.
Up Coming Workshop Info.….
Becky Marcussen will be giving a two day workshop Thursday, May 24th and Friday, May 25th 2018. The workshop will be held at the U of I Extension Center in Effingham. The workshop will be 9 AM to 4 PM each day. Becky tells me her workshop is a collage workshop with colored tissues and other embellishments. The point of the workshop is to discuss and use a variety of compositions. We will discuss 4 to 6 different approaches and several different approaches and several different artists will be used as examples. Even if abstract is not your cup of tea these compositional ideas can be used in all your paintings in the future. You should walk away from the workshop with a fresh approach to planning your paintings. The cost of the workshop will be $50.00 for both days. So mark your calendar.
Please Remember To Pay Your “DUES” If Not Already Done. Thank You!
