President Notes March 2018
The February meeting hosted a presentation by local artist Scott Deters. Scott’s art expression, born out of his desire to create and overcome barriers, is extremely inspiring. Thanks Scott for showing all of us how you create your wonderful abstract art!
Thanks goes to Ham Hampton for bringing his oil painting entitled “Hillary” to share with us.
*Please remember that any of you may bring a piece you are working on or have finished to share.
REFRESHMENTS for the March Meeting will be provided by Elizabeth Thurston and Whitney Ruger.
Thanks to Bonnie Siebert and Doris Johnson for bringing refreshments for the February meeting.
Hope to see everyone at the Tuesday, March 13th 7PM meeting!
Artist of the Month was Stacey Zerrusen—Stacey talked about her passion for art and the many ways she pursues it. Not only does Stacey stay busy with her own art, she teaches art at the Effingham Junior High. Stacey also assists her brother Scott Deters from time to time with his art.
You can view and support Stacey by attending her current art show at Joe Sipper’s in downtown Effingham
March Featured Artist Of The Month – Elizabeth Thurston.
Presenter for March
Our presenter for March will be Whitney Ruger from Flora, Il. She states that she picked up watercolor as a hobby nearly four years ago and fell quickly in love with the medium. Her work ranges from highly-detailed illustrations to loose, modern florals. Whitney occasionally teaches beginner watercolor classes at Fresh Digs in Effingham.
For the presentation she will cover watercolor technique, some of her favorite tips and tricks, and if time permits, she may demonstrate some modern florals. Anyone that would like to follow along should bring watercolors (any pan or tube set will do)—a medium size round brush, she will be using a #10 round. Watercolor paper if you have it. The Canson XL watercolor pads at Walmart are perfect for practice and experimenting.
