President Notes December 2019
Hoping everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and is looking forward to a month of holiday blessings. As I type this on Thanksgiving morning in my quiet house with my cup of coffee, I think about all my family and friends who I am so grateful for. I am thankful for a growing and thriving group of artists who inspire me on a daily basis. I am thankful for this group of kind adults who embrace my two crazy kids at our monthly meetings and welcome them with open arms. I wish you all a fabulously creative holiday season.
Much love to you all,
December 10th Starting At 6:00 pm
Our annual holiday party will consist of a potluck as usual. We ask that each member brings a dish and include a little more food than normal as we will have a larger attendance this year. We have included the FACE crew in our celebration of the year, and welcome any guests that our members would like to bring. Anyone that chooses to attend is more than welcome to join in our gift exchange. Gifts should be $10 or a handmade item. Participants who bring a gift get a gift! We will have a short meeting prior to our food and entertainment.
We are very excited to provide entertainment with the Island Grove Men’s Choir. They are a group that started within the Island Grove Parish and will be entertaining us with some Holiday music.
In order for both new and returning members to plan for upcoming shows, please find a list of our current displays and approximate months the display is changed. We are hoping this will help with planning throughout the year for our artists.

The Art Guild is seeking some assistance in planning our annual Broom’s Show (late April) and our Children’s Art Show (early April). If you are interested in assisting, please contact Stacey Zerrusen, Barb Althoff (Broom’s Show), or Barb Grant (Children’s Show). We need all the
volunteers we can get to make sure these shows are a success.
As we are modernizing our website, we ask that interested artists submit a short bio, their contact information, and some digital examples of their work. This will be added as a link on the website for visitors to view and possibly purchase work from our artists. These can be sent to the art guild email at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
President Notes June 2019
The Tuesday, June 11th meeting will be the last meeting for the 2018-19 year. We will once again end the year with a Potluck beginning at 6:00 PM with members bringing a dish. Last fall members chose our yearly group theme to be “Flowers” so participating members will showcase their version of the “Flower” theme. We will be in the kitchen. Entrance is in the back of the Park District Ron Diehl Center.
I was under the weather for the May 14th meeting but have heard raving reviews about our presenter, Watercolorist Chris Roberts! 22 members were entertained by Chris while he talked and completed a beautiful landscape in under 1 1/2 hours! The EAG members certainly appreciate Chris and his wife Vicki for taking time to travel to Effingham from Salem and share his talent with us!
Also, we want to thank Elizabeth Thursten & Robert Lumpp for providing refreshments for the group. I want to thank Stacey Zerrusen and Barb Brummer for filling in for me and thanks to Robert Lumpp for introducing his friend Chris to our members.
The EAG wishes to extend their sympathy to the family of Lora Hunter who passed on May 16th. Lora was a long time guild member.
Also, thank you Dale Wagoner for taking the following pictures during the presentation.

‘Til Beth Do Us Part’
President Notes May 2019
The April meeting was well attended with 21 members & one guest. The meeting activity was painting on mini canvases. Examples of mini paintings & small paintings were provided by members Elizabeth Thursten & Annabelle Miles Black. Member Nancy Anderson brought in glass projects she had made with her grandchildren.
Thanks to Mary Haag & Barb Brummer for providing the refreshments. Robert Lumpp & Elizabeth Thurston will be
bringing the refreshments to the May 14th meeting. The monthly raffle was won by Mary Hagg. I want to thank everyone of you that helped make this year’s Children’s Show & our 25th Annual Show at Broom’s Furniture great!
Chris Roberts will be our presenter for our May 14th meeting. Chris is a watercolorist from Salem, Il. His story is as follows:
“I guess it all started when my wife got a book “Painting Greeting Cards With Watercolors” by Jacquellyn Penny. She wanted me to do the lessons with her but I wasn’t interested…I was a technical person. She finally convinced me to do a couple of the exercises and to my surprise I enjoyed it. Awhile later I was out of work and I saw a show on PBS called “Painting On Location with Bob Fagan”. The 30 minute shows were part location painting and part travel log. I really was attracted to watercolor painting and especially painting on location. Bob Fagan appeared in three thirteen part “Painting on Location” series…”West Michigan”, “The Lighthouses of Michigan”, and “Sanibel/Captivia”. I attended two of Bob’s workshops in Habor Springs, MI. That was 20 years ago and I have been addicted to watercolor painting ever since”. Your can see art by Chris Roberts at: chrisrobertsart.net or Chris Roberts at Fine Art America.
