A few things that were left out of the newsletter… The display of student artwork is now being ran on the marquee located at the front of the EPC. Please see the attachment for more details. We have chosen to donate the remainder of the grant money that is typically used on the Children’s Art Show to the EPC for putting all their hard work into this display. It is a great event promoting the arts in a time that has been a struggle for many. CARDS! We had many hand-painted cards we had collected over the years that we typically sell at the Broom’s Fine Arts Show. We chose to take those cards and write messages in them of solidarity to the residents and employees of Newton Care Center. Members that have completed cards are encouraged to mail them to someone in need of cheering up. We can always create more cards, this is a time to share joy. I am willing to donate more blank cards next year in order to restock our stash. If you need suggestions of places to mail them to, I would encourage you to send them to nursing homes, any of the elderly living alone, and hospital staff. Do not hesitate to call me or email me if you need anything.

Children’s Art Show – CANCELLED, well sort of
The Children’s Art Show being held at the Effingham Public Library has been canceled in its normal capacity. See the statement below for more information. At a time where innovation and community support are more necessary than ever, local art educators have looked to embrace both in order to give local students an opportunity to show off their creative talents. The Children’s Art Show, normally held during this time, was unfortunately canceled due to the current circumstances. However, working with the EPC, the opportunity for students to once more participate in the show was made available. We are appreciative of those at the Effingham Performance Center for being such huge supporters of the arts and their assistance in showcasing the talent in Effingham county. In early May, the community will have the opportunity to view the young and talented students’ work on the marquee at the EPC from the safety of their cars. We thank all who support the arts and in bringing the community together as we all navigate new and uncharted territory.
