February 1-3 2013 – Flourishes Gallery Weekend Events
There are three different happenings at Flourishes Gallery and Studios this weekend that you may be interested in. Two happen on Friday evening from 5-7. There is a new gallery show opening with artists Carolyn Robinette Badorek (painter originally from Vandalia and now from Clinton) , Grace DeClerck Snively (graphic artist and painter from Macon) and Kari Thornton (potter and painter from Gays who attended Windsor H.S. and Millikin, now at Bradley University). Very young artists (grades 1-3) will also have the opening of their exhibit under direction of Mary Brooks, Shelbyville Elementary Art Teacher. The works are those by her Art Club in collaboration with Illini Bluffs High School art students.
The art club students creating “Monster Alien Creatures” are ( first grade) Naoki Iizuka, Zed Phelps, Abby Tomlin, Elyse Lape, Emily Duckett, (second grade) Drake McDonald, Ryann Wood, Sophie Ogden, Jude Beals, Zoe Frederick, (third grade) Max Beyers, Emma Cook, Emma Congenie, Ethan Clark, Mason Miller, Emma Houska, Brook Schutt, Will McClain, Kadence McDowell, and Tanner Koehler.
The third happening takes place on Sunday at the First Sunday Sing which starts at 3 p.m.. Young musicians will perform on the keyboard and guitar. Chloe Spain and Brock Hammond are piano students of Rosanne Reynolds and have reached the high level that she feels they are ready to perform for an audience. Michael Lewis, a high school student residing in Findlay, will play his guitar and sing old and new country tunes and perhaps some soft rock.
