Presidents Notes – September 2019
Hope everyone had a fun and creative summer and is ready for a new and exciting year spent with the Effingham Art Guild. We have a wide variety of speakers for our meetings this year, including artists that work in oil, watercolor, and photography. If you know of someone that may be interested in presenting, please contact Sue Drummond and she will let you know our open months. We hope to see you at our September meeting on Tuesday, September 10th at 7 PM and encourage you to bring a guest or friend so they can see what our Guild is all about.
Our current officers are Stacey Zerrusen: President, Sue Drummond: Vice President, Chris Detweiler: Treasurer and Paula Boll, Sharon Moss, and Carolyn Lambert will be working together to cover the position of Secretary. Rose Sutton and Stacey Zerrusen will be providing refreshments for the September meeting. A signup sheet will be passed around at that meeting to sign up to bring refreshments.
Joe Sippers July Show Winners
Congratulations to the following winners of the 12×12 show held at Joe Sippers during the month of July. Paula Launey with Highland Longhaired Cow, Kelly Jean with An Apple a Day, Samuel Tucker with Zappa, Lynn Reznick with Country Road and Cloud, Rose Sutton with Cone Flowers and an Honorable Mention went to Jan Clair Mason with Judah.
A special thank you to Madison Hagan, graphic designer from Nashville, Tennessee for judging our show and all our artists for submitting pieces for our largest 12×12 display thus far.
Our speaker for the month of September will be Jackie Tice, an oil painter from Gibson City. She will be sharing her techniques to create artwork which she describes as ‘the illusion of reality.’ I think you will be enticed by her play on light and shadows in her pieces. Follow our newsletter for a possible workshop later in the year. (If you want to add images, you can find her work on https://www.jackieticestudios.com/)
he Effingham Performance center would like to see artwork switched out as soon as possible. Please stop by during their regular business hours to pick up old work and hang new work.
The FACE production is looking for some assistance in painting backdrop of a Saloon for an upcoming production. If you are interested, please contact myself or Les Liss for more details. The backdrop would need to be completed in time for their show in October. FACE has always been a wonderful supporter of our shows and we would love to assist them in theirs.
